The Ada County Sheriff's Mounted Posse-ettes - old Western Idaho Fairgrounds - circa 1953
In 1952, eight women had been riding with the Ada County Sheriff's Posse and it was suggested they start their own drill team. By 1953 they had recruited enough members to begin performing their drill at local rodeos and riding in local parades. In 1958, the Poss-ettes traveled to Calgary, Alberta, Canada for the Calgary Stampede Rodeo and in 1974 to Spokane, Washington for a competition at the World's Fair.
